Trainer Tip : Lungeing : I often see the concept of lungeing a horse
way off base, and sometimes even to the point of being dangerous , so I
would like to go over the process of how to lunge a horse correctly. ,
and safely. !. please lunge your horse in an enclosed area, not in a
open field 2. your need a lungeing halter , a lunge line, and a lunge
whip 3; using a lunge line takes the place of having a round pen 4.
the lunge whip is the driving forward aid 5. the lunge line receives
the horses movement forward , and also acts as the aid for halting or
slowing down, you need both 6. lungeing is for training, not to tire a
horse out , if the horse has fresh turnout that is the best way to go 7. a
horse running , bucking , rearing on a lunge line is a danger to
himself, and the handler 8. a round pen allows the horse more freedom,
and is much safer on his joints. Remember lunging can be a training
tool if done correctly, and for the right reasons. Thank You Coeli
